Monroeville, AL · District-wide LED retrofit
Monroe County Schools needed to modernize lighting across their district — classrooms, gymnasiums, parking lots, and athletic facilities. We worked within the school calendar and budget cycle to deliver a district-wide LED retrofit that reduced energy costs and improved the learning environment.
The Problem
School districts face a specific set of challenges: aging fluorescent and HID systems across multiple campuses, tight budget cycles, the school calendar dictating when work can happen, and the need for lighting that meets educational standards — consistent illumination in classrooms, high CRI for accurate color rendering, and flicker-free operation for student comfort.
The Approach
We coordinated with the district to schedule the retrofit around the academic calendar — summer breaks and school holidays. Interior classrooms got flicker-free LED panels with CRI 80+ for learning environments. Exterior parking and athletic areas were upgraded to LED with uniform coverage. Rebate applications were filed to offset the district's cost.
The Results
The district's facilities now run modern, consistent lighting that meets current IES recommendations for educational environments — delivered across the summer window so the school year was never disrupted, with every space commissioned before handoff.
